Herbert Green Middle School
Save the Shepards
El Dorado County German Shepherd Rescue
Project overview
During the 21-22 program year, our Hands4Hope Club at Herbert Green Middle School worked with the El Dorado County German Shepherd Rescue (EDCGSR) to raise funds for much needed services and supplies.
EDCGSR provides refuge and makes ready for adoption, unwanted, abused, abandoned, or neglected German Shepherds, or GSD mixes. They educate the public regarding animal welfare and the importance of spaying and neutering. Unwanted German Shepherds that are unable to be adopted by local animal control services are brought to the facility where they are fully vetted, rehabilitated, and socialized so that they may provide excellent companions in a forever home. The organization reaches out to the public through scout troops, elementary and high school students (volunteer program), and local business. EDCGSR offers a community service program resulting in education on the importance of spaying and neutering pets as well as exposure to the needs of abandoned animals.
