Imagine feeling unsure if there will be food available when you are hungry, or if you have clothing to wear. Through Hands4Hope, youth and adult participants can make a difference for those in our community who are facing these challenges through two of our year long committees.
The interest surveys are now open for the Emergency Food Pantry Committee and the ASPIRE Outfitters Committee! New participants are welcome. Youth participants must be in 7th grade or older, and adults are needed as well.
To learn more about these committee opportunities, please contact Melissa Placek - Education Program Coordinator at melissap@hands4hopeyouth.org.
Emergency Food Pantry Committee
The mission of the Hands4Hope Emergency Food Pantry is to provide families experiencing food insecurity and unmet essential needs on the western slope of El Dorado County with nourishing food and other necessities.
The Emergency Food Pantry Committee works to develop the processes of running a food pantry to support families in need while working with partner agencies such as El Dorado County Office of Education and Placer Food bank. The committee is also responsible for the collection of non perishable, nourishing food by planning food drives within the community. They also manage all operations of the pantry located within the Hands4Hope Placerville Youth Center.
ASPIRE Outfitters Committee
Hands4Hope - Youth Making a Difference has partnered with ASPIREKids and is teaming up to create the ASPIRE Outfitters Committee. ASPIRE Outfitters is an ASPIREKids program which provides clothes for vulnerable youth. Members of this committee will be responsible for helping to organize and implement this program out of ASPIREKids new location, next door to the Hands4Hope Placerville Youth Center.
ASPIRE Outfitters Committee members will have the opportunity to have input into the creation of the ASPIRE Outfitters Boutique that will be located in the Placerville Youth Center. Once the boutique is open, the committee will participate in the collection and distribution of clothing in the boutique. The ASPIRE Outfitters Committee members will also have opportunities to identify and create processes for this program, requests from partner agencies and will identify needed items and create events and campaigns to collect or raise funds for these.
